If you have a baby or child and would like to have a church service when you can celebrate their birth and say thank you to God for them, we would love to help you do that, and we offer two options, a Baptism or a Thanksgiving service.
Baptism can happen at any age and is about someone making promises about their Christian beliefs and their desire to live as a practicing Christian and be involved in the life of the Church. When the person being baptised is too young to make these promises for themselves (as is the case for a baby or a small child) then they have godparents who make these promises for them, along with the parents.
A service of Thanksgiving is for people with babies or young children who would like to thank God for their children and ask for his help and blessing. Each child is named and blessed by the minister and the godparents and others present promise to support the family. The family and the children are also prayed for.
We are happy to hold these services for people who live in the parish of Ripley or who come to church here. Please contact Jenny Roberts in the church office if you would like to discuss further.
If you would like to be baptised yourself, or would like to discuss baptism for an older child, please contact one of the clergy – we would be delighted to discuss it with you.
